Anti-inflammatory, antibiotic, antipyretic
This is an important herb for arthritic and rheumatic conditions
that exhibit pain, swelling, and redness and for muscular spasms.
Chinese herbalists recommend this herb for the treatment of asthenic
fever associated with wasting, such as infantile malnutrition, tuberculosis
(TB) and acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). For these conditions,
it is combined with anemarrhena and lycii root bark. It is also
used as a diuretic and as a laxative. It is effective for relieving
jaundice and dysuria.
